Yesterday (November 3rd), the mighty Zakk Wylde took his shred-heavy guitar work to Seattle, Washington’s Lumen Field to treat football fans to a patriotic performance of the U.S. national anthem.
Wylde hit the field ahead of a Week 9 battle between the Seattle Seahawks and the L.A. Rams, and he supported the home team by donning an ol’ blue-and-green ‘Hawks jersey.
His take on the “The Star-Spangled Banner” was full of lushly distorted hammer-ons, tear-worthy scalework, and some screamin’ divebombs that took place as a pair of fighter jets soared above the stadium.

Wylde has hit the anthem for sports fans a few times over the years. Earlier this NFL season, he played “The Star Spangled Banner” in Cleveland, Ohio ahead of the Browns’ match up against the Cincinnati Bengals, though he also performed at an L.A. Lakers and Denver Nuggets NBA game all the way back in 2009.
As previously reported, the fall also saw Wylde saluting longtime friend and musical collaborator Ozzy Osbourne during an all-star performance/induction ceremony at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which found the shredder hitting “Mama, I’m Coming Home” alongside Jelly Roll, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith and producer-guitarist Andrew Watt.
Wylde’s Black Label Society likewise issued their “The Gallows” single, the band’s first piece of new music since 2022, back in September.
