Former the Police drummer Stewart Copeland has got beats, but has he got “better beats” than what’s on Limp Bizkit’s classic 2000 single “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)”? The folks at Drumeo tried to parse this out by having Copeland hop on their “For the First Time” YouTube series for a nu-metal cover.
The episode found Copeland hearing the Chocolate Starfish number for the first time, and sans drums. He was then asked to think up and perform his own drum parts on the spot in the Drumeo studio (which Copeland suggested was “a hellscape of drums and noise and anger”). The self-described “Uncle Stu Daddy” then hit the nu-metal daddies’ old track with a traditional drum stick grip, a heavy groove and a handful of jazzy flourishes.
Copeland confirmed he’d never heard the song prior to his session, and added to the Drumeo team: “I like those guys in concept, but I’m not that familiar with their music.”

As for Limp Bizkit, the band will be opening up for Metallica on the latter’s next round of M72 World Tour Dates, which kick off in April.
