Though Spiritbox are on the verge of unleashing their mega-anticipated Tsunami Sea album, the much-loved progressive metal group opened the floodgates a little early in London, UK last weekend by treating fans to the world premiere of a wildly heavy new tune called “Fata Morgana.”
The song acted as the set-opener of Spiritbox’s sold-out appearance at London’s Alexandra Palace, which was their biggest headline show in the UK thus far (max capacity at the venue is 10, 250 people).
Once the curtain dropped, the band launched into “Fata Morgana” with a simply-stated, but ruthlessly efficient and naturally harmonic-spiked djent section. Courtney LaPlante plays to the more savage side of her vocal work at the top of the track, but goes croon-mode through a more atmospheric and melody-laden chorus.
The night likewise featured the live premiere of recent single “No Love, No Loss,” as well as for “Sew Me Up,” a track from the band’s Rotoscope EP from 2022. They kept all three songs in the setlist for their other weekend appearances in Berlin, Germany and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Spiritbox’s European tour with openers Periphery and Stray From The Path continues tomorrow (February 18th) at Paris, France’s Paris Olympia. Shortly after the album arrives, Spiritbox undertake a spring North American headline tour, which will feature opening sets from Loathe, GEL and Dying Wish.
