See MUSE cover GOJIRA’s “Stranded” at Hellfest

Muse guitarist-vocalist Matt Bellamy hit many monstrous riffs over the weekend when the group performed at France’s famed Hellfest, but perhaps none more so than with his unexpected tribute to Gojira’s heavy Magma classic, “Stranded.”

The brief salute to the home-country metal act came mid-way through Muse’s Friday night (June 20th) performance at Clisson, France’s outdoor Hellfest, and came tagged onto a run-through of their Will of the People track “We Are Fucking Fucked.” As you can see via the fan-shot footage up above and down below, Bellamy drilled into the Gojira riff like a beast.

Muse’s 19-song set began with the band’s new “Unravelling” single, and pulled out high-drama pieces from throughout the UK prog-rock unit’s prolific career. The night likewise found Bellamy and Co. restitching Slipknot’s “Duality” into their “Kill or Be Killed,” and also delivered bite-sized nods to the music of Nirvana and Rage Against the Machine.
