Last night (October 19th), Ozzy Osbourne was inducted — for a second time! — into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Prince of Darkness was previously inducted in 2006 as the vocalist of metal godfathers Black Sabbath. Yesterday, during the Rock Hall ceremony at the the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, the Ozzman was inducted for his prodigious solo career. (The show was broadcasted on Disney+.)
An all-star cast of famous friends and fans joined Ozzy — who sat on an ornate, black, bat-themed throne — onstage to hail to the heavy-metal icon. Jack Black made a characteristically high-energy appearance, giving a speech to officially present the Ozzy with the honor. In his acceptance remarks, the singer thanked his family, fans and paid tribute to the late, great Randy Rhoads.
Then came a medley of Ozzy classics performed by the likes of Maynard James Keenan, Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo, Chad Smith and more. Keenan, Trujillo, Smith, producer-guitarist Andrew Watt and Wolfgang Van Halen performed “Crazy Train.” Next, country star Jelly Roll and Wylde joined Trujillo, Smith and Watt for “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” Finally, Billy Idol and Steve Stevens jumped in with Trujillo, Smith, Watt and keyboardist Adam Wakeman for “No More Tears.”
