The reunited Linkin Park marked the biggest esports event of the year this past weekend by bringing their “Heavy Is the Crown” to the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 League of Legends World Championship.
The group’s performance took place on Saturday (November 2nd) at London’s famous O2 Arena. They naturally played the song, which is both the 11th Worlds anthem and a track from their upcoming FROM ZERO album.
Flanked by stage pyro, Linkin Park hit the mark with their performance, which bounced Mike Shinoda’s rap style against new vocalist Emily Armstrong’s melodic rasp. Midway through the track, as Armstrong delivered a hard-screamed “this is what you asked for,” a trophy rose from a nearby podium. The live performance then strayed from the studio version, as the band extended the outro while the event’s announcer began introducing a round of esports competitors.
You’ll find the cross-promotional performance up above.
In other news, Linkin Park continued their world tour last night (November 3rd) in Paris, France. The live set at La Défense Arena marked the official live debut of the band’s new “Over Each Other” single, with Armstrong playing guitar on-stage through the number.
You’ll find fan-shot footage of that performance, as well as the setlist (via setlist.fm) down below.
Linkin Park’s FROM ZERO album, their first since 2017’s One More Light and the death of frontman Chester Bennington, sees release November 15th via Warner Records.
