A solo show from Flyleaf vocalist Lacey Sturm this past weekend delivered an unexpected nu-metal crossover, with Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch hopping on-stage to stitch his band’s iconic “Blind” into Flyleaf’s debut single, “I’m So Sick.”
The performance took place last Friday night (February 28th) at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Spirit Hall, and Welch hopped out onstage near the end of the set.
He and Sturm’s band grooved into the familiarly noise-and-groove spiked intro of “Blind,” and since Jonathan Davis wasn’t on-hand, the Korn guitarist growled out the tune’s infamous “Are you ready?” From there, the band kind of cross-stitched the lead riff from “Blind” with that of Flyleaf’s own groove-bounded “I’m So Sick” single from 2005, before fully launching into the latter.
You’ll find fan-shot footage of the nu-metal mashup up above, and some photos from the event down below.
Sturm has a few more solo shows booked around Pennsylvania this month, but she also has a couple of upcoming U.S. fest appearances on the books with Flyleaf. You’ll find the show schedule below.
