Knocked Loose’s uncompromising vision has placed them at the top of the hardcore heap, with the band’s You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To marking a major heavy music moment in 2024. Outside of the music, vocalist Bryan Garris is also keeping his eye extra sharp as co-director for newly dropped videos behind album tracks “Moss Covers All” and “Take Me Home.”
The tracks are being presented together as a black-and-white double-feature co-directed between Garris and veteran video visionary Eric Richter (Better Lovers, Jesus Piece). Its two chapters are measures in contrasts. The hard-blitzed-and-blasted “Moss Covers All” fittingly gets treated to a manic editing job from Garris and Richter, the sub-minute rage-out complemented with myriad shots of the band smashing through the song, along with quick glimpses of snarling dogs and tricked-out grills.
“Take Me Home” takes an opposite approach with a nuanced, slow-building pace, as Garris heads on a dread-stirring walk through a building that leads him to a cultlike, Cross-adoring congregation. Like Scorsese, Kubrick and Iñárritu before them, the co-directors plotted the “Take Me Home” portion as an epic one-take scene.
“I’ve had the idea for these two videos since before the album was announced,” Garris explained in a statement, adding of the back-half, “A one take / no cuts or edits video is something I’ve always wanted to do. A lot of moving parts and hard-working extras on and off camera to make this work. I’m so happy with it.”
As previously reported, Knocked Loose are currently out on the road supporting Slipknot on their “Here Comes the Pain” tour, but also have their own headlining trip coming up in October.
While we’d already known Militarie Gun, Drain and the Garden were set to support Knocked Loose on the latter trip, rapper Danny Brown has just been added to a handful of dates, too. You’ll find all of Knocked Loose’s fall dates down below.
