Earlier this year, Julie Christmas released her first solo full-length in 14 years, Ridiculous and Full of Blood — one of Revolver’s Best Albums of 2024 So Far — and today, the former Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice singer has offered up a new music video for standout cut “The Ash,” filmed and directed by Derrick Belcham.

Christmas commented: “Girls dancing for hours, boys in masks gathering imaginary hordes of minions, neighbors, friends and family in a steady stream; sweat, muscle, blood, tears and fairy lights. Just like the song itself, ‘The Ash’ video is a deeply personal glimpse into each of the lives of the band. Derrick Belcham helped us capture the beautiful, powerful people around us in glimpses that remind us that individuality deserves, at the very least, a flashing moment of celebration.”
Ridiculous and Full of Blood features a veritable all-star team of underground heavy-music musicians backing Christmas: guitarists Johannes Persson (Cult of Luna) and John LaMacchia (Candiria), bassist-producer Andrew Schneider (Kenmode, Unsane), keyboardist Tom Tierney, and drummer Chris Enriquez (Orange 9mm, Spotlights), who also happens to be Revolver‘s Brand Partnership Director. The album is out now via Red Crk Recordings, the label co-founded by Persson. You can order it here.
