Gojira staged one of 2024’s most memorable metal moments when they brought fire and decapitations to the Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony this past summer. Their “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça Ira)” was later added to streamers and even yielded a Grammy nomination, and now the televised performance that started it all is officially streaming courtesy of the band.
While many folks bootlegged and uploaded clips of Gojira and operatic collaborator Marina Viotti working through their metal-chugged version of the French Revolution-era composition “Ah! Ça Ira,” a lot of those were struck down by copyright violations. Now, Gojira have unveiled the full performance from outside Paris’ Conciergerie — a former palace where Marie-Antoinette had been held before her beheading — onto YouTube.

As previously reported, “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça Ira)” is up for Best Metal Performance at the 67th annual Grammy Awards next year, which puts Gojira in competition with Metallica, Spiritbox, Judas Priest, and Knocked Loose and Poppy’s “Suffocate” collab.
