This fall marks 20 years since Gojira crushed out their monumental From Mars to Sirius album, and today the much-loved French metal-makers are celebrating some of its finest and heaviest hits through a live session captured from Joe Duplantier’s Silver Cord Studio facility in Ridgewood, New York.
The band teased the in-studio performance earlier this week, and today (October 31st) they unveiled the three-song performance in full — which includes environmental-metal driller “Ocean Planet,” the massive “From the Sky” and the atmospherically voluminous “Where Dragons Dwell.”
It’s a straight-forwardly presented but jaw-dropping display of Gojira’s many strengths. The band are circled-up in Silver Cord — Joe Duplantier growling hard while chopping at his guitar, his brother Mario absolutely drenched in sweat by session’s end after putting on a cymbal-and-tom-exploring clinic.
Don’t despair, you can dive back into the “mountainous waves” of a 21st century clsassic by giving Gojira’s From Mars to Sirius mini-performance a peep up above.
