Occult-rock eccentrics Ghost have had a hell of a 2025, between the release of their fan-favorited SKELETÁ and a successful world tour. With just a couple of weeks to go, they’re going out with a bang by dropping a chopper-riding music video for album highlight “Cenotaph.”
The vid was released today (December 17th), within the latest theatrical chapter of Ghost’s ongoing, lore-building video series. The latest episode, dubbed “Frater Gets a Visit,” finds long-beleaguered clergy member and deposed former Ghost frontman Frater Imperator (formerly known as Papa Emeritus IV) getting an unexpected haunting from the ghost of his mother, Sister Imperator.
Frater, who is still sore about getting put on paperwork duty instead of touring the world with the band, notes that “this moment sucks,” and goes on to gripe about his day-to-day. The matriarch, who rematerializes as herself in her “prime,” suggests he hangs on until the end of the SKELETÁ campaign, for big things are to come.
Then Frater says he’ll “make sure the ship is steaming” ahead of reaching the port.
When the clergy member then takes a snooze, we’re introduced to a subconscious-exploring music video for “Cenotaph.” It’s seemingly presented from Frater’s POV, and it has him watching his now motorcycle-riding mama ape-hangering her way around Los Angeles — this actualizing some of Papa V Perpetua’s memories-triggering “Cenotaph” lyrics (“Wherever I go, you’re always there/Riding next to me”).

As previously noted, the SKELETÁ campaign does indeed continue in 2026. The next North American leg of Ghost’s “Skeletour” begins January 21st at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. You’ll find all of their upcoming concert dates here.
