Last December, Stephen Carpenter made a surprise cameo on Real Psycho, the then-newly-released collaborative album from Cypress Hill‘s B-Real and the Beatnuts’ Psycho Les. The Deftones guitarist riffed low and slow on doomy standout cut “Lyrical Hammers,” a song that today (April 2nd) finally got its official music video.
The visual, directed by Jason Goldwatch, matches the heavily-stoned rap-metal number with fittingly smoky and lysergic performance footage. Watch above.
Carpenter and B-Real notably collaborated in the past in a short-lived metal project called Kush, which was formed in 2000 and also featured bassist Christian Olde Wolbers and drummer Raymond Herrera, both then of Fear Factory. Sadly, the group fizzled out before officially releasing any music.
In other Cypress Hill news, the West Coast hip-hop OGs are prepping a new live album, Cypress Hill and the London Symphony Orchestra: Black Sunday Live at the Royal Albert Hall, for release on June 6th via Mercury Studios. Deftones, meanwhile, are currently on the road and rumored to drop a new studio LP later this year.
