Gothic industrial-metal veterans Rorschach Test played shows with Korn and Type O Negative, among others, back in the Nineties and offered up three well-liked albums including their 1998 Slip Disc debut, Unclean, before going on hiatus for several years. The band resurfaced this spring with the single “Fallen,” released on May 22nd, National Goth Day. Now, the trio are back once again with another new song, “Belated,” which stays true to Rorschach Test’s original concept: “a cybernetic organism with an overlay of human flesh, portrayed sonically in the form of synthesizers and programming surrounded by live playing.”

“My hope in writing ‘Belated’ was to help get the conversation about substance use disorder and mental health going, until we all demand an end to the stigmas and no longer hear the voices of those lost, saying goodbye from their graves,” founding Rorschach Test vocalist James Baker tells Revolver. “I could say that the song is based on a true story, because it is, but I think that it is based on thousands of true stories happening daily.”
In addition to Baker, the current incarnation of Rorschach Test is rounded out by Kolby Peoples and an “elusive and mysterious figure” known as The Narcoleptic Goddess. “It’s never too late to come back from the darkest places a person can journey to,” Baker commented of the band’s return.
