Poison the Well hit Brooklyn Paramount in NYC last night (April 28th) joined by the powerhouse lineup of Glassjaw, Better Lovers and Teenage Wrist.
A spirit of celebration and camaraderie pervaded the show, which was the penultimate date on Poison the Well’s headlining tour commemorating the 25th anniversary of their landmark album The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation. Not surprisingly then, PTW’s towering, interactive 17-song set pulling primarily from their Opposite of December era, but also showcased a handful of tracks from 2003’s You Come Before You and included a performance of “Trembling Level,” the group’s first new song in 15 years.
On top of celebrating The Opposite of December, the show also served as a sendoff party for both Glassjaw and Teenage Wrist, neither of whom will be joining PTW and Better Lovers when they officially wrap up the tour tomorrow (April 29th) at Toronto, Ontario’s Danforth Music Hall.
Additionally, the show served as a birthday party for Better Lover’s drummer Clayton “Goose” Holyoak. He got his band’s biggest circle pit of the tour (during set closer “30 Under 13”) as a present, and of course, at the afterparty, there was cake.
