Mudvayne kicked off their celebratory L.D.50 25th anniversary tour last night (September 11th) in Dubuque, Iowa, delivering a set of early nu-metal hits, deep cuts and a live premiere of one of their recent singles.
The concert took place at the outdoors Back Waters Stage of the Q Casino, and Mudvayne’s headlining set was preceded by performances from Static-X and Vended.
Earlier that day, it had been revealed that longtime guitarist Greg Tribbett would not be joining the band on tour, as his wife Debbie recently passed away following a bout with cancer.
Mudvayne mounted the stage to the sounds of L.D. 50’s “Monolith,” and then the full band br-br-broke into signature song “Dig.” The night found the act performing the bulk of their 2000 debut in-sequence, with between-song playback of pieces “Golden Ratio” and “Mutatis Mutandis” filling in the gaps.
Mudvayne also performed a handful of L.D. 50 songs for the first tine since the early Aughts, including “Everything and Nothing,” “Pharmaecopia” and “(K)now F(orever)”. An encore featured songs like “Not Falling” and The New Game’s “Dull Boy,” and likewise included the live debut of thew band’s hard-grooving new song “HURT PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE.”

Mudvayne’s L.D. 50 trek with Static-X and Vended continues tomorrow (September 13th) at Waukee, Iowa’s Vibrant Music Hall.
