Meshuggah capped their spring North American tour last night (April 24th) at New York City’s The Theater at Madison Square Garden, and you’d best believe the famously polyrhythmic djent godfathers quaked through the night with a punishing yet crowd-pleasing severity.
The night began with sets from extreme-metal legends Carcass and Cannibal Corpse, but concluded with a mega-heavy, 14-song set from the headliners that pulled from throughout their storied-career.
While the set was slanted towards favorites from 2008’s obZen (“Bleed,” “Combustion,” “Lethargica”), the Swedish beasts also bounded through a bunch of tunes from their last album, 2022’s Immutable, as well as a handful of heavy hitters from 2012’s Koloss and a throwback to 1995’s Destroy Erase Improve (“Future Breed Machine”).
