Two titans of industry collide once again, with U.S. sludge gods Melvins and UK grindcore favorites Napalm Death having just announced that they’re uniting for a second “Savage Imperial Death March” tour.
The bands announced their joint tour this morning (November 19th), confirming that they’re hitting the road together for the first time since the initial “Savage Imperial Death March” tour back in 2016. As with that first entry, the bands promise this to be “an unforgettable experience for fans of intense, boundary-pushing music.”
Additionally, this will be Melvins’ first tour with drummer Dale Crover behind the kit since he’d experienced a medical emergency in 2023, and likewise the first time he and skinsman Coady Willis will be pulling double-drummer duty for the band since 2016.
“Napalm Death! Melvins! What a dream! Not only are we looking forward to being on the road with our friends in Napalm Death, but we’re excited to have both Dale and Coady both on drums once again,” Melvins guitarist-vocalist Osborne said in a statement.
All told, the bands will be out on the road for nine weeks, kicking things off April 4th at San Diego, California’s Music Box. Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury’s Dark Sky Burial project will be opening every show, while select dates will feature North Carolina stoners Weedeater, Mister Bungle side-project Titan to Tachyons, and punk group the Hard-Ons.
Pre-sales for all dates begin tomorrow (November 20th), while general ticket sales go live on Friday (November 22nd). You’ll find all the date details down below.
Melvins last left listeners with this past spring’s Tarantula Heart album, while Napalm Death’s last full-length was 2020’s Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism.
