Norwegian black-metal trailblazers Mayhem were set to head to North America on a 40th anniversary tour this month, but they’ve cancelled the dates due to an unspecified medical emergency suffered by an unnamed bandmember. It will require “immediate surgery,” the group revealed, “which will result in a prolonged recovery period.” Refunds are available at point of purchase.
It sounds like the band will be back stateside before long, however, as they added, “Fret not, American and Canadian legion, as Mayhem will have something coming up next year that will make this up to those of you who have been disappointed by this news.” Stay tuned.
Mayhem also have European dates in December and Australian shows in January which are currently set to go ahead as planned.
