Hot on the heels of June’s “Your Ghost Again” — one of Revolver readers’ top 5 songs of 2026 so far — Mastodon have announced their highly anticipated ninth album, Marrow Deep. The prog-metal titans heralded the news with a blistering single, “Snakes for Dinner,” featuring Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, who previously joined Mastodon on their classic 2006 song “Colony of Birchmen.”

Marrow Deep marks Mastodon’s first album without co-founding guitarist-vocalist Brent Hinds, who passed away last summer. The remaining original band members — Troy Sanders, Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor remembered Hinds in a recently released documentary titled The Mastodon in the Room. Marrow Deep is also notably the group’s first full-length to feature guitarist Nick Johnston alongside significant contributions from keyboardist João Nogueira.
“Bill, Brann, and myself are thrilled that we still have the opportunity to do this, and we’ve got other members who are just over the moon to be in the band with us,” Sanders commented. “That’s a magical feeling that makes us keep wanting to go to band practice. It’s reminiscent of the very beginning of our band, where all members are hungry, we’re united, and excited to get to work. And we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to do this record.”
Marrow Deep is due out August 28 via Loma Vista Recordings and is available for pre-order in an array of collectible formats including two Revolver-exclusive vinyl variants — on “eco-friendly green blend” and “eco-friendly magenta blend” wax — and an exclusive picture-disc CD.
