Ugly season is here again.
Brooklyn alt-metal lifers Life of Agony are ready to celebrate the heavy-grooved sounds of their sophomore LP, Ugly, with a 30th anniversary tour.
The band’s aptly dubbed “30 Years of Ugly” tour launches by the fall, and the shows will find the band performing the entirety of 1995’s Ugly, which pushed the band into a darkly melodic, emotionally raw, and more profoundly-crooned arena than 1993 debut, River Runs Red.
“Everyone was expecting River Runs Red, Part 2, but Ugly was a left, right, and U-turn! People were like, ‘Okay, this is different?!’” Life of Agony guitarist Joey Zampella said in a statement. “It took some time to sink its hooks into our listeners, but when it did, it became a classic. I’m super excited to celebrate the ‘Ugly Duckling’ of the L.O.A. catalog!”
A 13-show U.S. leg kicks off September 19th at Bensalem, Pennsylvania’s Broken Goblet, with the dates finding Life of Agony supported at select dates by East Brunswick, New Jersey metal force God Forbid and Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta’s eponymous Jasta project.
Things’ll get extra ugly by the time Life of Agony head into a leg of European dates in November, as they’ll be taking on those dates alongside West Coast rockers Ugly Kid Joe.
“I’m very excited to get back out on the road to play Ugly in its entirety and to share the stage with God Forbid, our boy Jasta, and our good buddies from Ugly Kid Joe – along with our special friend Whitfield Crane,” Life of Agony vocalist Keith Caputo added. “I might even have to convince Whit to sing an L.O.A. song with us out there. That would be so cool.”
