Having released their self-titled debut album last year, the sacrilegious, salacious heavy-metal nuns in DOGMA are back with a fiery cover of the perfect pop song for them: Madonna’s sacrilegious and salacious Eighties hit “Like a Prayer.”
DOGMA’s rendition is mostly reverent to the original, but beefs it up with crunching guitars, blasting beats and a shredding solo. Their cover arrived today (September 27th) accompanied by a eyebrow-raising music video that also ups the ante on Madonna’s controversial clip.
“In the shadows of what’s considered sacred, you find the rawest form of desire,” DOGMA frontwoman Lilith commented. “Our rendition of ‘Like a Prayer’ isn’t just music, it’s an act of release, a call to everyone unafraid to embrace their truth. While some might drop to their knees to pray, there are far more exciting things you can do down there, right? Just like Madonna, we’re here to break the rules, but this time, we’re doing it on our own terms, unleashing the divine within us all.”
In addition to offering up the new single and video, DOGMA have announced their first-ever U.S. tour, fitting dubbed “Sinning Over America.”
