Wargasm are back with villainous intent. Specifically, the UK electro-punk maniacs have returned with a vibrant and violent new single called “Vigilantes,” which marks the dawn of a new independent era for the duo.
A press release confirms that “Vigilantes” — Wargasm’s first release since delivering “Circle Pit” and “Bad Seeds” last fall — was self-released by the band’s Sam Matlock and Milkie Way, who had prior to been signed to Republic Records.
The latest track nevertheless taps into the all-aggression blend of Nineties-leaning electronica breakbeats, industrialized synth-and-guitar damage and the playful-yet-punchy back-and-forth vocalizations of Matlock and Way, who scream and sneer about being super-powered by rage (“Anger is my energy”).
As such, the pair noted in a joint statement that the tune reflects “months and months of turmoil, love, hate, and passion.”
“We have waited so long to release this for you and with it, Wargasm are excited to be an unsigned band again,” they wrote. “This is turbulence bottled, shaken, and injected right into your ear drums. Everything about Wargasm is energy. We hope you feel something.”

In other news, Wargasm have also announced their first-ever North American headline tour, which takes place this summer. The trek comprises 14 headlining club shows and a pair of fest appearances. It begins August 31st at Pryor, Oklahoma’s Rocklahoma fest.
