After recently announcing their upcoming, back catalogue-celebrating “Ascend Above the Ashes” tour with Jinjer, fretboard-blazing metal lifers Trivium have revealed plans to put out some new music in 2025, too. Though the group will deliver their Struck Dead EP on Halloween (October 31st), they’ve dug out a sneak preview for us titled “Bury Me with My Screams.”
The track had been premiered on guitarist-vocalist Matthew K. Heafy’s Chaos Hour show on Sirius XM prior to being delivered in the studio-set music video you’ll find up above.
While the clip does have Heafy and co-guitarist Corey Beaulieu shredding a back-to-back solo section, it also finds Trivium renovating their Hangar Studios in Orlando, Florida. Fittingly, they do scream about “pulling the boards open” in the new single. Hopefully they didn’t find “decomposing leaves, wood, and motor oil” when they were rooting around through the remodel.
“In 2023, we decided it was finally time to take the next step with The Hangar space we purchased — it was time to turn it into a full studio,” bassist Paolo Gregoletto explained in a statement, adding that the big refit coincided with their Ascendency-themed tour rehearsals, and the arrival of three new tunes.
“During that time, the energy of revisiting Ascendancy started bleeding into these new songs,” Gregoletto continued. “Matt poured a lot of his personal struggles from the past year into the music, and we used the writing process as a cathartic release. Those sessions evolved into a three-song EP that we’re incredibly proud of.”
As previously reported, Trivium hit up the Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals ahead of kicking off their “Ascend Above the Ashes” tour with Jinjer and Heriot on October 31st at the Dome in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The trek concludes at Orlando, Florida’s Hard Rock Live on December 14th.
