Hear TOM MORELLO team with BEARTOOTH’s CALEB SHOMO on new ‘Final Fantasy’ anthem

Tom Morello has Molotov cocktailed a new gaming anthem our way.

The Rage Against the Machine guitarist has just delivered a Final Fantasy-geared single called “Everything Burns,” which pairs him up with Beartooth’s Caleb Shomo.

Morello teased the song last week, revealing in socials promo for Final Fantasy XIV that he’d prepped the song as part of the Patch 7.4 update in the Arcadion raid series. In a video message, he noted that he’d found out that game composer Masayoshi Soken was a huge RATM fan, which led to an IP collaboration.

Morello brought Beartooth vocalist Shomo onboard, and revealed that, together, they “wanted to make something super heavy and super powerful,” and likewise to produce an “absolute rocking banger of a track that would mirror the energy and the potency of [Final Fantasy XIV].”

As for the rap-rock/RPG connection itself, which was produced by produced by Tyler Smyth (Falling in Reverse, I Prevail, Blessthefall, Royal & the Serpent), “Everything Burns” meshes hammered-down, Morello-esque grooves with a rock-punkin’ chorus, while Shomo supplies bars about livin’ like a lightning strike and burning brighter than the rest of us.

It’s added in press materials that “this explosive track perfectly sets the stage for the fierce battle awaiting players in the finale of the Arcadion.” Should you not game, you can sample the battle anthem more passively via the player above.
