Quit griding your teeth, Thrice are back.
Following 2023’s The Artist in the Ambulance re-recording project, the California post-hardcore lifers have hammered out a single to tease their first original album in four years. Dubbed “Gnash,” the track comes from the group’s impeding Horizons/West.
A press release explains that album was self-produced by Thrice, and it includes mixing and additional production from Kowloon Walled City’s Scott Evans.
With “Gnash,” in particular, it finds Thrice getting heavier than they have in years, churning out the kind of forceful sludge metal previously heard on songs like “Firebreather” and “Silhouette.” It’s a banger, replete with an effects-soaked stomp-out section, and you can hear it via the player up above.
Horizons/West is out October 3 via Epitaph, though an exclusive vinyl variant on marbled violet-hued wax — limited to 300 copies — is already up for pre-order in Revolver’s shop.
Thrice will be supporting the album on a fall tour that has support from shoegazy rock bands Modern Color and Downward. You’ll find the date details beneath the artwork and tracklisting for Horizons/West.
