The Devil Wears Prada continue to plant the seeds of their soon-to-blossom Flowers, with the long-running metalcore expanders having just issued the third single behind their upcoming ninth full-length release. The new track is the pop-and-metal-heavy “So Low.”
The latest TDWP song begins with tender-bubbling electronic production work and soul-smeared synth-bass, but quickly pushes the tempo with mid-tempo drums, thick-and-meaty guitar chunking and a Vitamin-juiced back and forth between the band’s Mike Hranica and Jeremy DePoyster.
Thematically, Hranica said in a statement that the song is about “fighting the mundane,” as well as a desire to spice up your life when “everything feels flat or meaningless.”
“You just want to set it all on fire and blow it up to get a reaction,” he continues. “It’s about chasing that rush, even if it leaves you feeling worse in the end. The song comes from that place of frustration, when you’re desperate to feel alive no matter the cost.”
A music video for the song features footage shot during TDWP’s recent travels through Latin America, and includes both live performances and fan interactions. You can check it out up above.
