Five months on from the release of Tetrarch’s “Live Not Fantasize” single, the Georgia-bred-but-California-based nu-metal quartet have officially made their next album a reality. The band’s third full-length is titled The Ugly Side of Me, and they’re previewing it advance with another groove-quaked single: “Never Again (Parasite).”
Notably, the track is the first to feature guitarist Diamond Rowe singing on a verse (that said, she’s contributed more textural vocal work throughout the Tetrarch catalogue). While she’s got the second verse covered, co-guitarist and general lead vocalist Josh Fore handles the mic-work throughout the bulk of the track. The band explained in a joint statement that the new tune, which you’ll find in the player up above, features “deep-cutting lyricism” that revolves around para-social relationship dynamics and the loss of self.
“It’s very moody and dark but lyrically extremely easy for anyone to relate to,” they say. “It’s basically about losing trust in so many of the situations and people around you – while at the same time, isolating and losing a sense of self. It also kind of has a vibe of taking back what’s yours and saying ‘this won’t happen to me ever again’.”
As for The Ugly Side of Me, the new album was co-produced between Rowe, guitarist-vocalist Josh Fore and producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Archspire). The 10-song release is said to sport a mix of industrialized bangers (like the previously released “Live Not Fantasize”), melodic metal tracks (“Erase,” “Cold”) and plenty of Rowe-styled guitar solos.

In related news, The Ugly Side of Me will be the first Tetrarch album to arrive since Rowe revealed her signature Pro Series Signature Diamond Rowe guitar. The 25.5”-scale DR12MG EVTN6 was announced last fall, and Rowe’s partnership with the shredder guitar-makers makes her both the first female signature artist and the first African American female signature artist in heavy music.
