Snap your neck back, Swollen Teeth want you to take your “Medicine.” The masked, Slipknot-endorsed outfit have just dropped a bitter pill of nu-metal bombast, and it most certainly does not go down smooth. But then again, that’s just the way we like it.
The new standalone single arrives co-produced by a pair of longtime boosters: the Knot’s Sid Wilson and producer extraordinaire Ross Robinson (Korn, At the Drive-In). “Medicine,” which is set to appear on a forthcoming full-length, is described by the band themselves as a heavy groover “slammed together in a transmutation of primal emotions, pain and love.”
As evidenced through its undulated slow-sludge riffage, death-bounced rhythm-making and queasy turntablism, the “Medicine” is hardly sugar-coated. The band’s Megaa and Sun also trade off on depraved death growls, mock-raps, Jonathan Davis-like mewling and scream therapy-styled expulsions.
Per the lyrics, is this a pill that you have to swallow? You have to make that call for yourself, but the latest Swollen Teeth track is streaming now via the medicine-scattering visualizer up above.
While details on Swollen Teeth’s Wilson-and-Robinson-produced album have yet to be coughed up, the record is expected to arrive later in 2025.
