The wait for Shadow of Intent’s Imperium Delirium is over. The Connecticut deathcore maniacs unleashed the entirety of their latest album today (June 27th), and likewise offered up a lyric video for the record’s epically intense, political powers-critical title track.
The seven-and-a-half-minute “Imperium Delirium” ebbs and flows between fancifully morose synth intros, precision-blast bleakness, piercing thrash sections, revolting breakdowns and more.
Above all this, Ben Duerr rages over the psychopaths and sociopaths that have “proselytized the populace to accept absolute control.” This all plays into the album’s broader themes of “political decay…imperialism, drone warfare, mass surveillance, and the cold systems that dehumanize us all.”
“After countless writing sessions, abandoned ideas, and many years of patience, we are very proud to bring you Imperium Delirium,” guitarist Chris Wiseman said in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier to finally turn to this newest chapter of Shadow of Intent.”
As previously reported, Shadow of Intent’s Imperium Delirium is the follow-up to 2022’s Elegy. The new album features guest vocals from Cannibal Corpse’s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher.
The album is out now via Blood Blast Distribution, and an exclusive double LP edition on “green and bone galaxy” vinyl, limited to 200 copies, is currently available in Revolver’s shop.
