The war machine rages on, and Shadow of Intent have something to say about it. As such, the Connecticut deathcore vets have drilled out an anti-war anthem called “Feeding the Meatgrinder,” and they enlisted Cannibal Corpse’s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher to help howl through the battle.
The new cut arrives as the first preview of Shadow of Intent’s upcoming Imperium Delirium album — their first since 2022’s Elegy.
“Feeding the Meatgrinder” is described in a press release as being a “brutal anti-imperialist and anti-war narrative, describing the dehumanization and destruction of mass conflict in harrowing detail.” It first batters through the speakers with double-barrel cannon fire kick drum work, while vocalist Ben Duerr low-groans his way through lines about lurking reapers, corpse-lined trenches and the thought that “disregard for human life is in the nature of the business.”
The song runs through multiple tempos, heads through a melodious yet melancholy guitar solo section, drops into an air-whooshing vocal breakdown and hits a grotesquely off-kilter back end mosh. And throughout, Duerr shares the mic with the Neck himself, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher.
“We couldn’t be more excited to kick off album 5 with this brand-new track where we get to push our boundaries even further,” Shadow of Intent wrote in a joint statement. “A massive thank you to the great George Fisher, aka Corpsegrinder, for lending us his voice.”
You can hear the raging anti-war track up above via the group’s just-launched music video, which spews a lot of fluids before culminating in what we’ll describe as a violently zombie-laden mosh pit.
