Saosin are back with their first new music since 2016. The rock-geared post-hardcore vets have just unveiled a tellingly-titled single called “Starting Over Again,” and it arrives as their first release through new label home Sumerian Records.
The band’s new single is the first track to arrive since Saosin delivered their Along the Shadow LP a decade ago. It’s the first major release to feature former As I Lay Dying guitarist Phil Sgrosso, who began touring with Saosin in 2016 and joined as a full-time member more recently.
The song features the current lineup of guitarists Beau Burchell and Sgrosso, bassist Chris Sorenson, drummer Alex Rodriguez and returned vocalist Cove Reber — who had sung on the band’s first two albums, a self-titled effort from 2006 and 2009’s In Search of Solid Ground. He rejoined the band in 2023.
Burchell and Sgrosso co-produced the song, which you can check out through the music video up above. On a certain level, it addresses the long wait for new music.
“‘Starting Over Again’ is our first new music in over a decade, and it came from the fans calling for it and us realizing the timing finally felt right,” the band wrote in a joint statement.
“The chemistry in this lineup is undeniable, and everything just clicked,” they continued, “This song is exactly what the title says. A reset, but with more clarity, more urgency, and way more fire behind it. It feels like the start of something big for us, not a throwback, but a step forward.”
