Sydney, Australia’s shadowy Cenobia materialized with a pair of magnetic alt-metal singles in 2025, raising intrigue and racking up millions of streams along the way. The mysterious, generally face-obscuring solo artist has now gifted the growing fan base her first single of 2026, which is seemingly poised to “Make Us Whole Again.”
Cenobia had been teasing the tune for the past few weeks via socials clips of her walking through a desert landscape while wearing silk-flowy, face-covering outfits and a pair of viciously pointed gloves. The intro of the dark-gazing heavy track delivers an identity-questioning narrative (“Imposter syndrome holds me in its cold dark maw again/So cold”).
Described in a press statement as “a story of reflection, regret and loss,” the trauma-reflective composition explores “what it really means to lose a piece of yourself.” As with 2025 singles “Devour Me” and “Throne of Want,” Cenobia’s latest song is cryptically explained to be “written for him,” yet “he will never hear it.”
Sonically, “Make Us Whole Again” hews a touch softer than last year’s more djent-and-scream-spiked “Devour Me” and “Throne of Want,” hypnotizing instead with watery guitar tones and vibe-based violet-incandescence like a top-tier Deftones, Bad Omens or Thornhill cut.
