The wait is over — Nine Inch Nails have delivered their first album since 2020, in the form of the soundtrack to sci-fi movie TRON: Ares.
As previously reported, NIN began teasing their soundtrack for the Disney film back in August of 2024. This summer, they began previewing the collection with the pulsating dark-pop single “As Alive as You Need Me to Be,” which they then fit with a digitally face-disrupting music video at the top of September. And now, you can get a hold of the whole dang soundtrack.
The original motion picture soundtrack ends a five-year drought, with NIN’s last album offerings being 2020’s Ghost V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts projects — both were released as free downloads that March.
The new, 24-song project mixes atmospheric synth-strumentals and light-and-lithe piano musings with Trent Reznor-sung pieces including the incandescently trip-hopping “I Know You Can Feel It,” the balladic “Who Wants to Live Forever” and grand finale “Shadow Over Me.”

In other news, Nine Inch Nails conclude the North American leg of their “Peel It Back Tour” tonight (September 19th) at Los Angeles, California’s Kia Center.
