Back in April, goth-rock chanteuse Chelsea Wolfe covered Spiritbox’s “Cellar Door” — which she cited as one of her favorite songs of 2023 — live for BBC radio, transforming the Canadian outfit’s doomy djent-metal piece into a lithe and spectral acoustic cover. Today (November 15th), Wolfe offered up a proper studio version of the cover, which appear’s on her new EP, Unbound, the final entry in a trilogy of EPs that have largely reimagined material from her latest album, She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She.
Last month, Wolfe and Spiritbox teamed up onstage during Courtney LaPlante and Co.’s opening set at Korn’s 30th anniversary show in L.A., dueting on Spiritbox’s heavy “Jaded.” You can watch fan-shot video of that collab below, as well as revisit Spiritbox’s original “Cellar Door.”
