Tampa, Florida trio Nevertel’s 2024 has been a busy one, between signing to Epitaph Records, releasing a handful of singles, and touring with Beartooth. The darkly melodic rockers are keeping the momentum going with another new track, titled “Losing Faith.”
The band’s new single is their third of the year, and it mixes together elements of modern nu-metal revivalism with trap-pop and shadowy hard rock guitar hooks, and likewise melds a soaring and sometimes-glitched-out vocal performances from frontman Jeremy Michael with one sly-rapped verse from guitarist Raul Lopez.
The track — inspired by the likes of Bring Me the Horizon, Linkin Park and Kendrick Lamar — lands like a lovelorn anthem, but apparently triples as a cautionary tale of the music biz and one-sided relationships (“Picture perfect how you paint me out to be the villain / Cropping out the fact that I was doing all the heaving lifting”).
“In the music industry, we’ve found that you meet a lot of people that like to make friends only to help their own lives and careers,” the group said in a joint statement. “This song touches on the experience we’ve all had of realizing that maybe the person you’d die for might not even reach out a hand to save you.”
“Losing Faith” was co-written between Nevertel and Gianni Taylor (BMTH), mixed by Dan Lancaster (Blink 182, A Day to Remember) and mastered by Ted Jensen (BMTH, Post Malone). You can check it out in the music video up above.
