Despite the vibrant-hued implications of their chosen band name, Neon Nightmare are a gloomy new project shrouded in a dark cloud of mystery. What we can tell you is that the outfit have a debut single called “Lost Silver,” and it’s giving us some serious Type O Negative vibes.
The band’s introductory tune, which arrives via the 20 Buck Spin label, is an epically murky, seven-and-a-half-minute doom ballad where the melancholic twilight glitter of electric piano shimmers beneath deep-and-chunky guitar melodies and a singer’s dark and Steele-y, romantic baritone rasp.
Directed by Emmanuella Zachariou, the music video finds a woman awoken in the middle of the night and working through a deck of Tarot cards. This leads her towards visions of herself taking a bloody bite out of an Eden-esque apple or taking a breather while hangin’ on the cross. You can see for yourself up above.
No word yet on whether the single is part of an upcoming album release. The label did allude to Neon Nightmare’s aesthetic being informed by the likes of Black Sabbath, Type O and Misfits, adding in a press release that the newer group’s sound “has lived in many forms, some colored by psychedelic experimentation and others raw and real.”
Stay tuned for more!
