Seattle, Washington, post-metal trio Museum of Light are coming “Undone” in the best way possible — by premiering a melodic crusher of the same name with Revolver.
The band’s new single is the second from their forthcoming sophomore LP, Diviner, and like earlier tease “Blunt Force Drama,” “Undone” mixes sludge-tuned hooks with a sense of melodic melancholy, coming across something like a storm-clouded, Pacific Northwest Torche.
Vocalist-guitarist Ted Alvarez explains that the song has been the band’s set-ender for a while, and “proved its mettle as a banger long before [Diviner] took shape.”
While he added that Museum of Light are more generally into “creating images and suggestions that feel real and true, but opaque enough that the listener is really attaching their own specific story,” when it comes to “Undone,” he confesses it’s a kind of a relationship number.
“This one’s maybe a bit more concrete in that I think we tried to bottle the collapse of a relationship when it feels most catastrophic — mountains are crumbling, the earth is literally trying to swallow you up. But even after you’ve been buried, you can see a little light coming through the cracks, if that makes any sense.”

Diviner follows 2022’s Horizon and was recorded overseas at Giske, Norway’s Ocean Sound studio. Per the suggestion of producer Scott Evans (Sumac, Thrice, Kowloon Walled City), each recording day began with “a cold plunge in the Norwegian Sea” before the band got to business.
The full, 11-song release is said to balance “crushing heaviness with ethereal melody and hushed introspection,” with the collection likewise marking the debut of new bassist Jeff Bartlett. The record also features guest vocals from Elissa Alvarez and a spoken-word section from Seattle-based author Amelia Urry.
Coming off their recent weekend tour of the Pacific Northwest with Missouri mathcore monsters Coalesce, Museum of Light have now unveiled a few more tour dates around Washington State and Oregon to promote Diviner. You’ll find the concert details below, along with Diviner‘s tracklisting.
