And the Gods of thrash said, “Let There Be Shred.”
With just over a month to go before Megadeth deliver their self-titled farewell album, Dave Mustaine and the rest of his long-running metal troupe have offered up a third tease of the upcoming release. An epic ripper of biblical proportions, this one is called “Let There Be Shred.”
The tune, which follows “Tipping Point” and the ultra p.o.’d “I Don’t Care,” was teased earlier this week via single artwork that finds the headstock of Mustaine’s signature Flying V smashing through the dome of longtime mascot Vic Rattlehead, as well as through a separate Instagram post that featured lightning-licked thrash riffs and classically galloped heaviness.
Now, the total package is here, and it indeed finds Megadeth delivering the shred as only they can. You can hear for yourself via the player up above, and catch the music video premiere at 11 a.m. EST below.
As previously reported, Megadeth is out January 23rd via BLKIIBLK. The album, which will also feature Megadeth’s take on Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning,” is available to pre-order on CD, cassette, and on an exclusive “Blue Flame” vinyl in Revolver’s shop.
The band, however, will also be holding their “Behind the Mask” cinematic release part the night before (January 22nd) at movie theaters worldwide. The film will feature all the music form Megadeth, as well as stories behind this final set of songs. More info on ticketing and venue info can be found on the Megadeth site.
Similarly, they’ll be hosting a “once-in-a-lifetime, all-day immersive celebration” for the LP in Nashville, Tennessee on January 17th.
Likewise, Megadeth also recently announced a Canadian headline tour that begins in February and features support from Anthrax and Exodus. Next summer, they and Anthrax will be hitting the road again to open on Iron Maiden’s North American arena tour.
