Hear MACHINE HEAD’s “WU TANG-level thrash collab” with IN FLAMES, LACUNA COIL and UNEARTH

As promised earlier in the week, Machine Head have returned with new music — and they’ve brought along some of their friends! The Bay Area groove monsters are officially promoting their upcoming tour with In FlamesLacuna Coil and Unearth through the new collaborative “These Scars Won’t Define Us” track involving all four acts.

As previously reported, Machine Head teased the song up front as a “Wu Tang Clan-level thrash collaboration.” Lofty words, for sure, but what the track gets across most, you could argue, is that these four bands are nothing to fuck with.

The multi-vocal approach of the bruising track accordingly cross-pollinates Machine Head leader Robb Flynn’s hearty howl with the vocal work of In Flames’ Anders Fridén, the epic stylings of Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia, and the shouts of Unearth’s Trevor Phipps. You can hear how they mesh together in the whip-lashing cut via the player up above.

“These Scars Won’t Define Us” is the first taste of Machine Head’s next album, which follows 2022’s ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN. An exact street date for the group’s 11th full-length has yet to be confirmed, though it’s estimated to arrive sometime next spring.

Coincidentally, that’s right about the time Machine Head will be hitting the road with In Flames, Lacuna Coil and Unearth. The joint tour begins April 5th with a hometown show at Oakland, California’s Fox Theater, and continues around North America into mid-May. Tickets are on sale now, and you’ll find those date details here.
