True to their word, Bay Area groove kings Machine Head will indeed be releasing their long-promised eleventh album this spring. Rob Flynn and co. have confirmed that the record is called UNATØNED, and they’re teasing it a lil’ early with a similarly pre-fixing, and hella bruising single called “UNBØUND.”
The new track was premiered earlier this week on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal channel, but made its way onto streamers this morning (February 18th). As you can hear up above, the tune works its way from a blasted-and-squealed intro towards anthemically slow-stomped groove riffs and an arena-melodic hard rock chorus. Throughout, guitarist-vocalist Flynn growls and croons of an unbreakable spirit.
“UNBØUND” is the latest preview from UNATØNED, and it follows last fall’s In Flames, Lacuna Coil and Unearth-assisted “THESE SCARS WØN’T DEFINE US,” a track Flynn had previously described as “a Wu Tang Clan-level thrash collaboration.”
UNATØNED is the follow-up to Machine Head’s 2022 full-length ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN. The new album marks the first full-length to feature former Havok guitarist Reece Scruggs in the line-up.
The 12-song effort is out April 25th via Nuclear Blast. Pre-orders are up over here.
As previously reported, Machine Head are likewise launching a spring tour alongside In Flames, Lacuna Coil and Unearth. The North American trek kicks off with an April 5th appearance at Oakland, California’s Fox Theater and closes out with a four-show stretch across Western Canada in early May.
You’ll find the tour info here.
