It’s a busy week for New York metalcore outfit Loss Becomes. In addition to releasing sophomore album Sonder to streamers tomorrow (January 21st), the Jesse Leach-approved group have also teamed with Revolver to premiere the chaotically glitched-out video for hard-stomping single “Blink Once.”
The new song strips away the more melodic tendencies of earlier album preview “Broken Mirrors,” with Loss Becomes putting the focus on twitchy fretboard runs, gallop-chugged breakdowns and an all-fury performance from vocalist Anthony Copozzi.
Lyrically, the frontman bitterly hints at the emotional wounds, callous interactions and “mental meandering” of a crumbling friendship.
“Life moves very fast. Sometimes relationships grow and last forever and sometimes relationships shatter into a million pieces and that person becomes a stranger on the street,” Copozzi tells Revolver. “Some of the people you start out life with usually aren’t at the finish line with you. Some of them leave and then come back. Most of the time you realize the fact that they never filled your cup after you’ve been filling theirs for years.”
He adds: “It’s not fun when you realize some of the closest people in your life aren’t actually rooting for you at all. Sometimes they are rooting against you. This song is about exactly that: ‘Blink once and you’ll miss me.’”

Sonder, which also includes the previously-released “L.O.F.” and the Leach-assisted “Broken Mirror,” is out January 21st via The Orchard.
