Deathcore drillers Lorna Shore continue their disgusting new journey, with the third preview of their upcoming I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me having just hit streamers. Fit with a creepy vid, extreme sounds and an intense theme, the tune is called “Prison of Flesh.”
Per a press release, the band themselves note that this latest song — which follows earlier singles “Oblivion” and “Unbreakable” — is one of their “heaviest to date,” both performance-wise and thematically. Ahead of the music video’s official arrival on YouTube today (August 14th), they’d delivered a teaser on socials that comprised hyper-blasted beats, rain-drenched performance footage, and dramatic, horror-esque visuals of woodland chases and bloody-mouthed children.
Now, we’ve got the heavy wrecker to contend with in full. Vocalist Will Ramos explains that the extreme song was inspired by his “family’s history with dementia,” and his versatile, animalistic vocal performance highlights paranoia, delusion, hurt and the effects of being lost in the “void of [your] mind” (“Something has come for my mind/Slowly it eats me inside”).
“The lyrics for this song are about my family and our history of dementia — [and] the idea that the world is falling apart, and about the fear of losing touch with reality,” he said. “‘They’re coming to get me’ is my way of personifying ‘demons’ or something that makes you feel like you’re losing pieces of yourself. The closer they get, the further detached you become until you’re nothing but a husk of fear and delusion.”
As for the full-band extremity, which traverses from blegh-heavy blast-outs towards blackened symphonics and a psyche-punishing backend kick-a-thon, Ramos says: “This song is exactly what I imagine a lot of people expected of us to put out. We took all the heaviest stuff we had to create this incredibly dark, high-stress/tension song.
“I personally think the breakdown at the end of this is one of my favorites that we’ve ever written and I’m excited to see how people engage with this one.”
As previously reported, I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me sees release September 12th via Century Media Records. You can currently pre-order it on vinyl and CD right now in Revolver’s shop.
Lorna Shore will also be undertaking a North American headline tour by mid-September, which will include opening sets from The Black Dahlia Murder, Shadow of Intent and PeelingFlesh. You’ll find those date details here.
