The buzz behind Knocked Loose is only growing louder.
Following a few late 2025 teases, the Kentucky hardcore renegades have boomed out their first song of the year, and it’s a collaboration with rapper Denzel Curry. Fittingly, they’ve joined up to deliver a wrecker called “Hive Mind.”
The song marks Knocked Loose’s first piece of new music since unleashing 2024’s monstrous, Grammy-nominated You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To. Earlier this week, the band formally announced its arrival through an IG teaser vid where a DJ breaks out a slab of wax listing both artists and the track name “Hive Mind.”
Notably, he’s doing so whilst setting up turntables at a skatepark. This is Louisville’s Dave Armstrong Extreme Park, where Knocked Loose staged a video shoot last October. At the time, their public invite was seeking “as many people as possible” for the shoot.
It turns out that quite a crowd showed up, and they’re losing their minds moshing and barrel-rolling across the pit to the sounds of Knocked Loose’s latest mash-out. The video was directed by longtime visual collaborator Eric Richter and Knocked Loose vocalist Bryan Garris, and can be peeped up above.
As for the song, Knocked Loose lean into dissonant aggressiveness and set-to-kill mosh calls (“Fuck it up”) while flipping the pace between full-speed hardcore and nail-pounding grooves. Garris foments over the zombied-out hive mind (“Bite your tongue / change your face”). Curry, meanwhile, goes for the headshot with a tight set of bars in the second verse, which has him snappin’ caskets, de-glazing your personal tastes (“Fuck your favorite band and favorite rapper”), and likewise calling out a collective unconciousness (“Jump when they say jump”).
From there, the song gets wildly thrashy, erupts into a tastefully outrageous solo from Hale, and then gets down in the dirt for the breakdown.
“This is something we’ve talked about doing for a long time,” Garris added of the team-up in a statement. “We wondered if we could pull it off and who would be down. In the very beginning, we said for it to work, it would have to be Denzel Curry. Because he gets it.”
No new details have been offered up on Knocked Loose’s follow-up to You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To just yet, but both Garris and Hale revealed in separate Instagram posts last year that the act were actively “writing.”
As previously reported, Knocked Loose have a number of European appearances coming up as part of Metallica’s M72 world tour. The band also pop by the Las Vegas, Nevada, edition of Sick New World in April, and then at the inaugural Dallas, Texas, edition of SNW in October.
