It’s time to put the focus back on Jutes.
Following the late 2025 release of the Canadian-born, L.A.-based solo artist’s expertly pop-expanding, confessionally nu-brooding Dilworth album, Jutes has no returned with a standalone boom-tune dubbed “Disassociate.”
The track, Jutes’ first of 2026, is described in a press release as being about both “the intoxicating push-and-pull of desire” and “emotional escape,” reflecting the experience of losing yourself in someone else, and then knowing when to let go.
Jutes communicates this through R&B-coded vocal fluctuations, which ride along a series of moodily melodic juds and thuds. As in the past, Jutes juxtaposes some of his most understated, whispery performance moments with WTF-levels of over-the-top lyrical sensualism (“Spread your legs for me / Watch me eat my way to your heart”).
“This is about the world crumbling around me and me needing a break from empathizing and taking on everyone’s pain by disassociating with someone else” the artists explained of communicate his “Disassociate”. “Sometimes you have sex to feel something and sometimes you have it to feel nothing.”
The music video, which you can see up above, presents Jutes and his band judding their way through the tune in an office environment, for the pleasure of a pair of eerie Dobermans and a placid ewe hooked up to an IV. Between the locale, the barnyard buddy and the dissociative nature of the tune, it gives off a light Severance vibes.
The single also arrives in conjunction with news that Jutes has signed a worldwide publishing deal and label extension with Position Music. More details on new music are forthcoming.
