Jesus Lizard are all revved up and ready to rip across the comeback trail. Though the band’s reunion album, Rack, is set to hit shelves and streamers in September, the legendary alt-punks are steering us towards the album’s frenzied “Moto(R)” ahead of schedule.
Unlike the woozy discombobulation of recent single “Alexis Feels Sick,” this latest album preview is a foot-to-the-muscle-car-floor blast of adrenaline combining Mac McNeilly’s no-fuss drummin’ with Duane Denison’s F1 guitar riffage and David Yow’s patented yowl.
When it comes to the visuals, the video combines recent footage of Jesus Lizard going hard in-concert — Yow, in particular, crawlin’ over a crowd with his cowboy boots kickin’ wildly in the air — with stock shots of drag cars peelin’ asphalt, movie moments of mustachioed businessmen getting cold-cocked, lavish cityscape scenes and more. You can see for yourself up above.
As previously reported, Rack marks the first full-length release from Jesus Lizard since 1998’s Blue. The record was made with producer Paul Allen at Nashville, Tennessee’s Audio Eagle Studio. Rack is out September 13th via Ipecac.
