India’s Bloodywood first made their name with viral covers of pop and traditional songs, but they’ve since become the highest-profile metal band out of their home country on the back of 2022’s Rakshak, their debut album of original material. Standout cut “Dana Dan” even appeared in the Dev Patel action movie Monkey Man.
Now, the band are back with their first single in two years, “Nu Delhi,” as well as the news that they’ve signed to Fearless Records. The song showcases Bloodywood’s signature mash-up of raucous metal, rapped, roared and crooned vocals, and traditional Indian elements. A tribute to the band’s home town, the track arrived along with a hyperkinetic music video that likewise hails the city.
“New Delhi, known as the melting pot of India, is arguably one of the most diverse cities on the planet,” the band commented in a joint statement. “With a history of that has seen as much bloodshed as it has peace and celebration, it made for the perfect womb to birth this band. The contrasting visuals, cultures and backgrounds thriving within the city is accurately reflected in our music — where genres that cannot work together on paper… somehow do. With this song, we wanted to talk about the deadly, yet nurturing nature of the city and how it can give you a life beyond your wildest dreams if you play your cards right, or end it if you try to outsmart it.”
