The avant garde-leaning, mask-wearing adventurists of Imperial Triumphant have teamed up with a titan of forward-thinking heaviness — Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake — for their towering new single. Fittingly enough, the music video for their “Lexington Delirium” was filmed within the architectural marvel that is New York City’s famous Chrysler Building.
The intense and epic new track will appear on the band’s forthcoming Goldstar album. Aesthetically, Imperial Triumphant blend aureate-aura chord sophistication into their jackhammered blasts and ultra-growled lines about sitting on a “throne of bolts” as the “great skyscrapers weep silently.” Mid-song, Haake hops on the mic for a chilling spoken-word section.
As for the vid, it finds the masked triumvirate constructing their uniquely chaotic tune from one of the Chrysler Building’s patio platforms, the video complimenting Imperial Triumphant’s music with a scenic view of NYC.
“Gazing at the building’s stainless steel Egyptian sun rays, I felt a profound connection to something greater, a deep resonance with the universe itself,” bassist-keyboardist Steve Blanco said in a statement. “Sharing that moment with my bandmates… and everyone involved made it all the more fabulous.”
Imperial Triumphant’s Goldstar is out March 21st via Century Media. The record features previously released singles “Hotel Sphinx” and “Eyes of Mars.”
The band will promote the album on-the-road while taking part in the upcoming Decibel Magazine Tour, which finds them traveling alongside Mayhem, Mortiis and New Skeletal Faces. You’ll find the date details down below.
