Imminence have raised their blades high again for their second single of 2026: “False Light.”
The Swedish metalcore act’s latest song — which follows last month’s “The Sword That Never Bends” — was released on streamers and within another medieval-minded music video today (July 21st).
“False Light” had been teased in a trailer that featured olden days battle action, gleaming swords, and shots of the band performing their violin-bowing metal music amid such violence. The vid follows the magic-versus-mettle arc of their “The Sword That Never Bends,” which had been teased at the time as “the first glimpse into a larger visual world the band has been building behind the scenes.”
Now, you can experience the sensory overload of “False Light,” a track that brings together big-bowed gravitas, coal-black guitar chugging and depraved blast-to-mosh dynamics.
As for the video, the narrative advances the band’s recent medieval narrative. We follow a knight who suits up for a journey across a distant land, where he encounters grave dangers, runs across a decimated village and finds himself a travel companion in the form of a lil pup. Likewise, we see shots of the group performing the piece, as violinist-frontman Eddie Berg screams and croons of truth, regrets and metaphorical swordplay (“The slow knife cuts the deepest”).
Imminence’s most recent songs are expected to be part of the full-length follow up to 2024’s much-loved The Black. Details on the impending LP have yet to arrive, though it will be their first album through new label home Sumerian Records.
The band are also set to make their return to North America this fall for a headline tour that begins November 13th at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. They’ll be joined this fall by support acts Dying Wish and Gaerea. More routing info can be found here.
