Swedish metal crew Imminence have emerged from The Black with a new monstrous standalone single: “Death Shall Have No Dominion.” And damn, is it heavy.
The group had been teasing the track’s arrival throughout the week, and it arrives packaged within a video of the band exploring some craggy, subterranean hellscape.
Sonically, “Death Shall Have No Dominion” begins with a shadowy intro and mournful peals of violin. That said, it quickly ramps up into ass-whipping melodeath territory, with the group launching into warp speed through a series of lacerating guitar pull-offs and manic drum hits. The song ebbs and flows through varying tempos from there, while vocalist Eddie Berg goes full goblin mode while screeching about finding divinity in one’s darkest moments.
“Just when you might have thought that you knew what to expect, we turn around and give you a new single,” guitarist Harald Barrett said in a statement. “I honestly don’t think there has ever been a more extreme track coming from this band. We want to show you that The Black goes deeper and darker than you could ever imagine, and we intend to take you there with us.”

As previously reported, Imminence are set to launch their North American tour March 8th at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. The month-long trip finds the Scandinavian act joined by French metalcore crew Landmvrks and Japanese visual kei-metal outfit Jiluka.
